2025 has already served up a number of terrific movies on the silver screen, but with 2026 just around the corner, box offices are already licking their lips when it comes to draining our pockets of hard-earned cash. With a number of cinematic delights set to air next year we take a look at the most eagerly-anticipated movies of 2026…

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (6th January 2026)
A 7-month gap between movies is a refreshing rarity these days, and so, with the eerie feel of one of 2025’s biggest box-office hits still fresh in our nostrils, Danny Boyle returns to direct the second half of this blockbuster starring Ralph Fiennes, and now, Jack O’Connell of ‘Skins‘ and ‘Sinners‘ fame.
Street Fighter (20th March)
Starring Jason Momoa as Blanka, 50 Cent as Balrog, and the impeccable David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, the characters of one of the most loved Nintendo games of all time are translated onto the big-screen in this exciting new crossover from Japanese-American director, Kitao Sakurai.

The Super Mario Bros Movie 2 (3rd April)
Our favourite Italian plumbers return in 2026, fresh off the success of their 2023 original, starring all our favourite Mario World characters, including Bowser (Jack Black), Donkey Kong (Seth Rogen). This time, Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) team up to battle arch-nemesis, Wario.

Michael (24th April)
Starring Jafaar Jackson, the nephew of MJ himself, ‘Michael’ will tell the story of The King of Pop’s rise to fame, from his time as a child performer with The Jackson 5 in the 1970s, to his smashing releases like Off The Wall and Thriller, culminating in his final Victory tour with The Jacksons.

Mandalorian and Grogu (22nd May)
A sure-fire hit from the expanded Star Wars universe, Disney+ posterboys Mando and Grogu will make the move to the big screen next Summer, in this movie adaptation of their hugely popular series. Directed by Jon Favreau, Pedro Pascal will once again reprise his role, accompanied by the cutest sidekick in TV history.

Toy Story 5 (19th June)
Very few movies can run for 30 years and still have fans on the edge of their seat for the latest release, but Pixar‘s biggest hit can do just that, as Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang prepare for their fifth outing; this time going up against the brand-new toy on the market… A smart tablet named ‘Lilypad‘.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (31st July)
You may have seen the viral shots of fans in Scotland gathering around crowded streets in recent weeks to catch a glimpse of Tom Holland, with the Brit filming many of his stunts there. But Spidey fans will only have to wait another 10 months for the real thing, as Holland takes up the iconic suit for his fourth standalone film in the MCU Movies series.
Jumanji 3 (11th December)
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson returns in the third installment of this family-fun trilogy, with the likes of Kevin Hart and Jack Black also set to accompany the former WWE star through another jungle-packed frolic. The hit adventure series will also be shot in IMAX, as confirmed by Columbia Pictures.

Dune: Messiah (18th December)
Another of the biggest movies of 2026 set to enjoy a thrilling third finale arrives in the shape of Dune: Messiah, once again starring Timothee Chalet and Zendaya, and directed by Denis Villeneuve. With Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Robert Pattinson and Jason Momoa also joining the ranks, this might just be the most thoroughly star-studded production of the year.

Avengers: Doomsday (18th December)
18th December is a HUGE day on the 2026 movies calendar, with not one but TWO blockbusters arriving in competing fashion, Ala the ‘Barbie-heimer’ rivalry in 2023. Robert Downey Jnr returns to the MCU, 6 years after his death as Iron Man, in the first Avengers movie since End-Game. A must-watch.
