A Perfect Match: Wafia, Louis The Child & Wethan Join Up For ‘Hurts’ (+Music Video)

The hero of alternative pop anthems is back. Gold-selling Netherlands-born LA-based Iraqi-Syrian Wafia today drops a tantalising new single called ‘Hurts’ featuring assistance from Louis the Child & Whethan. The release also marks the first release of Wafia’s brand new partnership with Atlantic Records.

‘Hurts’ is the second time Wafia has collaborated with Louis The Child, previously penning “Better Not” which now boasts hundreds of millions of streams. We are told the upbeat and euphoric new track was initially created with talented Australian Songwriter Sarah Aarons (, Peking Duk, Dua Lipa, Zedd, Nao, Khalid) whilst Travis Scott’s ‘SICKO MODE’ producer Rogét Chahayed performed on keys during a mega 13-hour session in Los Angeles.

We loved the song and called Whethan that night to come over to the house to lay some ideas down on it. It wasn’t till months after that we felt the Louis The Child boys should hop on too……. This song to me is such a labor of love between friends and I feel so lucky to get to make music with these incredible people.” says Wafia.

The track is accompanied along with a video directed by acclaimed filmmaker collective, Weird Life Films and was filmed in Whethan and Louis The Child’s hometown of Chicago whilst Wafia was performing at Lollapalooza.

Whethan says of the collab, “It’s a homie track. It was an opportunity to be able to come together with friends and make music. Both Wafia and Louis The Child are like family, so this one means a lot to me.”

Wafia is currently hard at work recording her long-awaited EP which is due next year – she will be heading on the road for select dates from October which can be found below if you are state-side.
