Straight from an impressive set at their very own ABGT350, Above & Beyond have, without warning, unleashed a fan favorite as a surprise gift. Titled Waltz in an ode to the triplet frenzy that the psy-influenced track embodies, the tune presents the dirty, groovy analog sound in its rawest form – untamed.
A darker shift in pace from the normally vocal-driven trio, Waltz sees A&B forgo conventional wisdom of short, climatic drops in favor of extended triplet section with an ever so slowly changing progression of elements. Beginning with a dirty triplet drop, modular synths find their way into the mix, each layering adding an eerie, acidic vibe. Even the relatively calmer piano-led breakdown doesn’t shy away from the minor chords either.
The single comes in both an abridged and extended mix; it’s your pick based on whether you live for the climax or for the entire progressive and immersive experience. It’s safe to say given the technical sound design in this tune that the guys at Above & Beyond had a lot of fun making this tune, and we hope you have as much fun listening to it.
