After over two decades, Adam Beyer finally releases Explorer Vol. 1 on Drumcode, marking a new chapter for the Swedish techno titan. The album blends cinematic techno with Detroit soul, Afro house, breakbeats, and melodic peak-time bangers.
The record opens with Silent Mapping, featuring Italian composer Coco Francavilla, then moves through bold cuts like Taking Back Control, Circus Freaks, and the title track Explorer. Collaborators include Layton Giordani, Chris Avantgarde, Julian Jeweil, and vocalist Kyozo, adding layers to the album’s energy.
Beyer challenges expectations with tracks like Tanit, hinting Aphex Twin vibes, and The Distance Between Us, which brings indie synth textures. The album closes on deeper, introspective notes with Hypnotic and The Long Way Home.

This release signals Beyer’s evolving sound, developed during pandemic downtime after shelving a previous album attempt. The techno pioneer proves he’s still pushing the envelope after 30 years at the top.
