Announced: Electric Blockaloo Festival in Minecraft with Star-studded Lineup

Mark your calendars, we have another incendiary digital festival coming to our living rooms. Set in the world of Minecraft, Electric Blockaloo is soon to become another monumental affair to entertain us during the on-going COVID-19 crisis. The event is produced by the 2018 TechCrunch Hackathon winner Rave Family — the first all-female team to win — and will take place from June 25th to the 28th. Electric Blockaloo promises to be a radically new experience that will help shape festival culture in 2020 and beyond.

As the pandemic wages war against our previously defined “normal”, brilliant minds are needed to innovate and shape our culture set against a backdrop of anguish and chaos. With a star-studded lineup and partnerships, Electric Blockaloo sets the stage to be one of those innovators, if not the preeminent innovator of digital festivals and the live festival space. Star acts joining in on the fun are Diplo’s Higher Ground, A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold, Above & Beyond’s ANJUNABLOCKS, ZHU PRESENTS: BLACKLIZT, and Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird Bass Lodge & Birdhouse.

Each artist, label, or collective will host their very own stage, curated to how they see fit. Including the aforementioned, Electric Blockaloo will be comprised of Lane 8 Presents: This Never Happened, Claptone’s Masquerade, Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream, and Soul Clap’s House of E-Funk. Labels and collectives like Desert Hearts, Circus Records, and Lost Resort Presents: TOKiMONSTA’s Young Art Sound will also be apart of the multi-day event, and that’s just scratching the surface of what Electric Blockaloo offers.

The creator behind Electric Blockaloo is the incredibly talented and brilliant-minded Rave Family led by CEO, Jackie McGuire. Their past work includes infrastructure and entertainment support for EDC, Electric Forest, Imagine, Ever After, and many others. Their wealth of expertise and search for bold ingenuity is what blessed us with the star-studded Electric Blockaloo, its accompanying spectacle, and an experience that can be shared around the globe.

Attendees will be known as “Loozers”, a term of endearment that draws inspiration from Burning Man’s “Burners” and Bonnaroo’s “Bonnaroovians”. Loozers will have the ability to traverse recreations of famous locations like Dunder Mifflin’s office space, Red Blocks aka Colorado’s famed Red Rocks, Dirtybird Campout and its rambunctious camp games, a replica of the scenic Gorge, and many more surprises to be discovered.

Electric Blockaloo will be available on both mobile and desktop versions of Minecraft. For those not familiar with Minecraft, Rave Family will host Training Camp for ticket holders to learn how to navigate the world and to ensure they don’t miss out on any fun due to inexperience.

To attend the festivities, fans will need to join an artist’s guest list, which they will share on their social media in lead up. Once on a guest list, fans will receive a special code that they will then use to join the Rave Family club. From there, you will then pay GA or VIP cover to receive access to artist-curated Minecraft servers, Discord channels, exclusive streams, and special releases.

With live events seemingly canceled for the foreseeable future, it’s truly remarkable that so many genres and artists from the electronic space are joining forces to formulate something never seen before. Nowhere else can we feel and experience an event with someone halfway across the globe at the same time. You won’t want to miss out on what promises to be a force of cutting-edge entertainment. I know I won’t.
