Apollo XO and Teknono are clearly a match made and were meant to work together, their single “Gang,” cultivating an infectious house energy that’s hard to compete with. One part hip-hop, another part house, they make the two elements work in tandem and pay tribute to both genres generously via colliding these two spaces together. From the detailed basslines to the well-designed arrangement that helps the track smack that much better, “Gang,” leaves nothing to chance when it comes to an idea going to the stage of concept to a full-fledged reality.
Chicago’s-own Apollo XO is the type of genre who’s about trying out any type of music and seeing what works with him. His influences include R&B, Reggaeton, Disco, and UK bass. His dedicated to the craft as well as love for dance music culture has had him rubbing shoulders with names like DJ Snake, Diplo, Kaskade and others, some of the few acts he’s been able to share the stage with.
Teknono brings life to the party and a smile to the faces he interacts with. Based in Detroit, he’s well known and beloved within the greater regional scene. Mentors such as RN ISMO, Dillon Nathaniel, and Westend’s Kick & Bass all have inspired him and influenced him to be the DJ/producer he is today. Labels he’s released on include Phunk Junk via his track “Work,” and Blare Music, were he dropped “Dysfunction.”
Both acts here are chipping away at promising future, their hunger for success of love of the music playing a pivotal role as to how they got where they are today.
