Anyone who listens to trance (and probably even EDM in general) would have heard of both Armin van Buuren and MaRLo. While van Buuren’s tunes are versatile yet charismatic sound, MaRLo’s are more distinctive in their unique combination of energy and emotion. Following MaRLo’s ‘Lighter Than Air’, the 2019 Tune of the Year on Armin’s A State of Trance radioshow, the two maestros have finally combined on what could be considered its follow-up.
Titled ‘This I Vow’, the collaboration melds emotional vocals with a pounding drop to leave you reeling. The vocalist, Mila Josef, sings in an eerily similar manner to the vocal performance on ‘Lighter Than Air’, in an angelic croon wrapping the listener into the song with her magical voice. Vocal chops speed up in anticipation of the drop, which unleashes a strong bassline and a powerful melody onto the unsuspecting listener.
‘This I Vow’ is as sentimental as it is banging, and that’s a compliment one can pay to a very select few set of tunes. Check it out below.
