Rising Libyan Songwriter Bahjat Drops Latest Single: “What We Were”

We’ve all experienced heartbreak at one point or another and sometimes it seems unavoidable when reflecting on all of the irretrievable moments you’ve shared with someone who you’re now no longer with. Music can be cathartic in moments like these, which is why “What We Were” by Bahjat stands out.

Bahjat, a 23-year-old Libyan singer-songwriter who escaped Libya’s war torn climate at just 15 years of age, has never allowed adversity to trample his dreams of pursuing a career in music – an attitude that renders the young artist an inspiration to many.

His debut EP, which was released in late 2017, has since reached over 1,700,000 streams on Spotify, while 2018 saw him release his latest single: “Do You Remember Me?” which now sits on over 400,000 Spotify streams.

Picking up where he left off, Bahjat’s latest single “What We Were” is sure to gain some hype! This is not your typical sad song about overcoming a breakup, rather it is a story that, through it’s emotional authenticity, may help one to process sombre feelings. It is driven by infectious acoustic guitar, honest lyrics and an upbeat, vibrant rhythm that will hook listeners in, while the song’s electrifying energy will keep them listening.

This track is yet another indication that Bahjat is here to stay. With an immovable vision, we expect to be hearing a lot more from this talented young man.
