Beat Music Fund, Armada Music’s dedicated catalogue acquisition vehicle, is continuing its strategic expansion with the takeover of two notable dance music imprints: Laidback Luke’s Mixmash Records and Will Sparks’ former label, Bourne Recordings. While both labels were no longer active, their catalogues contain a wealth of significant singles, making them valuable assets for the fund.
These latest acquisitions join an already impressive and diverse portfolio that includes the master rights for catalogues from artists and labels like Chocolate Puma, the legendary King Street Sounds, Jax Jones, Markus Schulz, and Solardo’s Sola Records, among others.
Beyond the deals for Mixmash and Bourne, the fund’s activity appears to have broadened further. A fresh wave of artists and iconic labels have started working with Beat Music Fund, though many of these partnerships remain unannounced. New names in the fold include Lost Kings, Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Records (which already had a distribution relationship with Armada), Tensnake, and T-Spoon, as well as the catalogues of celebrated producers Audien and Paul Elstak. Similarly, the label from Australian duo Feenixpawl, Eclypse Records, and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano’s SONO Music have also been brought under the Beat Music Fund umbrella.
Interestingly, not every deal made by Beat is accompanied by a formal press release. This makes the exact terms and status of these unannounced catalogues unclear; be it full ownership, a partnership, or another form of administration. However, judging by the company’s official Spotify playlists, the connection is confirmed.
