Switched on Pop is a podcast about the making and meaning of popular music hosted by musicologist Nate Sloan and songwriter Charlie Harding. With weekly episodes this ones a great follow for any music lover, listener, producer, vocalist or A&R.

In this episode they discuss the Superhero theory about music icons and then pick one of the artists with one of the most interesting rises to fame. That being global phenomena Billie Eilish who has taken the world by storm since she was only 14 when she uploaded “Ocean Eyes,” to SoundCloud late one night only intending for her dance teacher to hear it. However the next day when she woke up the song went viral sending her into the spotlight and changing her life entirely.

Wind forward to 2019, she’s clocked up billions of streams and her debut album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” has been marked as one of the biggest Albums of the year, but despite all that now only 18 she’s still making her music with her Brother and co-producer FINNEAS in their childhood home. She’s taken the stage at Coachella and toured the globe and this podcast explores why her music strikes a chord with the new generation both culturally and musically.
