Update: Following full refunds to ticket holders, said ticket holders will automatically receive tickets for a show at the Brooklyn Storehouse tomorrow, from 5PM-10PM. Alongside this, there is a limited pop-up at Knockdown Center at 12:30AM tonight, which has had its list already filled. It’s clear that Sara Landry is doing whatever she can to make up for the cancellation, which was not even on her end.
Following extensive renovations, Brooklyn Mirage was set to open tonight with Sara Landry. The venue is supposedly ready, but they haven’t met the city’s inspection deadline before doors were set to open.
There was a lot of anxiety around the venue being complete in time, with construction happening up until recently, with the venue not looking ready. That anxiety was understandable, because clearly it is not ready. It is a shame, with people travelling in for the show, as well as Sara Landry missing out. She is set to perform tomorrow, for what would have been the second show – it is too early to call if tomorrow will happen.
In good news, refunds were made available to ticket holders and we can confirm that at least some have already been issued. Sara Landry and her team is also looking to organise other sets throughout this weekend in New York.
See below for Brooklyn Mirage’s full statement:
“We’ve been extraordinarily transparent along every step of our Brooklyn Mirage rebuild – showing the long hours, the progress, and the passion behind it all.
We want to be clear: the venue is show ready and the New Mirage has been built to exacting safety, structural, mechanical and technical specifications. However, we were not able to meet the final inspection deadline today. Abiding by all appropriate city, local and building authorities is paramount to our core value.
Therefore, tonight’s show is canceled. All ticket holders for tonight’s show will immediately be receiving a full refund and we will notify the general public with updates on tomorrow’s show as soon as information becomes available with respect to final inspection and signoffs.
We, as a company, take full responsibility. This isn’t about construction, but compliance. We’re working closely with city officials and will continue to be transparent throughout this process.
Thank you for your trust, your patience, and your continued support.”
