CRSSD 2023 Makes A Splash At San Diego’s Waterfront Park [REVIEW]

This year’s sold-out spring installment of CRSSD Festival, hosted March 4 + 5 at San Diego’s Waterfront Park featured killer sets from a multitude of electronic genres, cocktails from sponsored brands like Juneshine and Melograno and delicious eats from a number of vendors, including vegan and vegetarian options.

Compared to last year’s roster, this year hosted several more UK garage acts – including Mall Grab, Skin on Skin, Jensen Interceptor, Maya Jane Coles, and more, as well as headliner acts including ODESZA, Purple Disco Machine, Deborah De Luca, and Polo & Pan.

The Palms offered listeners the highest quality in contemporary house music, featuring performances from Jackmaster, Chaos in the CBD, and Ben Sterling, whereas City Steps bumped up the BPM with techno queens Anfisa Letyago, Sama Abdulhadi, and Maya Jane Coles. While Eats Everything was originally scheduled to go b2b with Seth Troxler, Skream stepped in to take his place both at the festival and for CRSSD After Dark.

Ocean View was home to major acts like Seattle-based duo ODESZA, who just received a Grammy nomination for their recent album The Last Goodbye, Lane 8, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and Becky Hill.

In addition to the music, CRSSD hosted production workshops with Roland and artist Q&As with various festival acts on Saturday & Sunday.

Thanks to the official CRSSD mobile app, fans were able to receive notifications for their favorite sets and schedule their weekends around can’t-miss experiences.

Although the weather was slightly cooler than expected, attendees pulled out all of the stops when it came to festival fashion – the park offered luscious backdrops of golden hour palm trees and creative installations for high-quality photos.

CRSSD After Dark welcomed a whole new crowd – hosting their late-night events at nightclubs around the San Diego area – Rich’s, Bloom Nightclub, and SPIN, to name a few.

For those hungry for more, Fingers CRSSD will be hosting Max Cooper at Music Box next Wednesday, March 15, and Ewan McVicar & Dance System at Rebru on Saturday the 18th.

Their full calendar of events can be found here.
