EchoStorms Talks About The Process of Making Their Hit ‘Hallucination’

UK DJ and music production duo EchoStorms continue to push boundaries unleashing powerful bangers at a constant basis.

Their one-of-a-kind style and sound has already received the support and praise of the likes of David Guetta, James Hype and Tiësto. With their releases reaching the charts across major streaming platforms and already surpassing millions of streams, this duo is showing no signs of slowing down.

Their latest release ‘Hallucination’ is a Tech House anthem that will undisputably surpass their previous achievements.

Now, we invited EchoStorms to talk about the production process behind ‘Hallucination’, here’s what they said.

Hi EchoStorms, how are you?

Currently, been on hold for 47 minutes to a customer support helpline, so draw which ever conclusion from that that you wish.

‘Hallucination’ is out now, what inspired you to produce this track?

‘Hallucination’ is inspired by a true story about when Ben temporarily went mad a few years ago, and imagined that he was being hunted by special forces and spent multiple days off the grid a-la Jack Ryan/James Bond/Jason Bourne, escaping from a non-existent army before eventually regaining his sanity.

Are there any sound or genre explorations you made while working on the song?

There’s a lot of sample manipulation going on in this track. We created the main lead for the drop by pitch shifting a sample of a plucked string which we really liked, and there are a lot of other unusual elements, such as a pan lid being dropped on the kitchen floor and other home-made samples of household noises.

Which part of the track you started working on first?

We wrote and recorded the vocals first just to a click and built the track around that, that’s how we usually work so, if it ain’t broken, why fix it?

Is there an element of the track that’s your absolute favorite?

The vocals.

How long did it take you to finish this production?

If you add it all up, probably around two or three days, including recording the vocals.

How does this track compare to your previous releases?

It’s a bit darker and less melodic than our previous releases.

Can you describe ‘Hallucination’ to someone who hasn’t heard it yet?

It sounds like a beautiful and poetic nightmare that could potentially damage your emotional state.

What keeps you inspired to produce music?

We’re inspired by the eternal hope that one day our music will be successful enough to enable us to do a world tour playing titty bars.

What’s coming up for EchoStorms?

Hopefully finally getting through to a real person on this customer support helpline rather than a machine…
