Rock and roll may not be the music staple it once was, but the genre and lifestyle still live on in a select few artists, including the cinematic yet energetic group Guns and Toilet Paper, better known as GXTP. The band is announcing the release of their latest single, “My Devil At Home,” featuring rapper Sueco, whose talents combine with GXTP’s to create a special kind of music magic.
Getting to Know GXTP
GXTP are relative newcomers to the rock scene, having formed in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Its members, Jason Paul, Sasha Sirota, and Triple Sixx, came together with the unified goal of portraying current events and contemporary culture through their unique perspectives, reflecting the social struggles of the everyday person.
The band’s name itself actually alludes to the absurdity and tensions of the time, as people ran out of toilet paper and firearms became more prevalent. GXTP takes on this absurdity without veering too far into camp or parody territory, as their roots in rock keep them from sounding too ironic and losing some of their appeal as a result.
Despite their relative recency, GXTP’s status rose sharply during that brief time, in part due to their collaborations with big names like Tommy Lee, drummer of Mötley Crüe. They’ve also worked with the aforementioned Sueco and pop artist Faris Zahid.
Glimpsing the Song and Video
Band member Triple Sixx has described “My Devil At Home” as a reflection of duality through the image of “an angel in public, a devil at home.” The song captures the complexity etched within love and passion in a relationship, making the track accessible to a broad audience while keeping the sound exciting and engaging. Sueco contributes much to this energy, as his pop-punk and rap influences meld skillfully with GXTP’s rock and roll to create a musical tidal wave.
While the song in and of itself is impressive, the music video adds even more to that feeling of tension and lively emotion. The video takes the sound quite literally, featuring bold and captivating imagery of angels and devils to better immerse the listener into the track’s themes and sounds.
What Was and Is to Come
“My Devil At Home” is hot on the heels of GXTP’s previous tracks, which include hits like their first release, “Contraband,” and their subsequent tracks, “Accusation,” “Lust & Purity,” and more. Although “Contraband” is what got many listeners hooked onto GXTP’s sound, fans stayed for more tracks like the group’s most recent release, “Couldn’t Keep the Faith” ft. Faris Zahid, which dropped just earlier this month.
GXTP is also set to release their second album later this fall, though exact details have yet to be announced.
If you’re someone who enjoys rock’s raucous noise and pop’s contagious energy with a group of talented artists who aren’t afraid to laugh at themselves from time to time, then stick along for the ride alongside GXTP.
