Four Tet Releases Two New Tracks from his Persona, ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ

The enigmatic Four Tet releases two new tracks under his veiled persona, ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ. To my untrained ears, it sounds as if both songs are derived from the same “source material”, but with variations in drum loops and percussion. Even so, it’s good to have Four Tet back even if it’s under the guise of Wingdings.

Both tracks are equally tantalizing electronic arrangements filled with lush sounds and thunderous beats. For the first, Four Tet utilizes breakbeat styled drums inspired by the famous drum loop the “Amen Break”. The second features a sequencer drum loop from the Roland 808, made famous by Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” and it’s almost ubiquitous use across current music-genres. It’s these two differences that create the variation among the two tracks.

Overall, both new Wingding tracks are filled with layers of intricate sounds that oscillate between the high and low frequencies that build and build. Four Tet uses a really delicious vocal sample and synth melody that really draw listeners into the spiritual journey. Ultimately, the listener is sent hurling through a cosmic journey warped by the mind of Kieran Daly, the man better known as Four Tet.
