GTA and Diplo are embracing the weird and wacky with their latest track “Milky Cabrera.” The track features wonky synth lines and booming 808’s over a clubby house beat. Additionally, Diplo is heard throughout the track repeating funny or interesting phrases – making it clear that the track doesn’t take itself too seriously. The song’s title clearly refers to famous major league baseball player Melky Cabers of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In “Milky Cabera’s” official video, posted on GTA’s official YouTube, one excited fan commented “this is weird asf, i can’t stop playing it…”, while another disappointed user wrote “a lot of years of producing trap and you bring me this?” Although the track’s reactions have been mixed, both artists are accomplished enough that they can afford to take creative risks.
