Dutch producer Heijmat is kicking off the year with Horizon, a stunning new single featuring LudoWic, known for his work with the Trautonium, one of the world’s earliest synthesizers. Out January 24th, the track marks the first taste of Heijmat’s upcoming EP Echoes of Solace and sees him diving deep into expansive, emotionally charged atmospheres and soundscapes.
Unlike his more beat-driven past releases, Horizon leans into something bigger—lush analog synths, subtle piano, and elegant arpeggiators blend together to create a meditative journey that builds to a triumphant, euphoric release. Think Jon Hopkins meets Nils Frahm, with that signature Heijmat touch that turns introspection into something cinematic. The final moments strip everything back, leaving just the Trautonium, a single synth, and piano—a delicate ending that lingers long after the track fades.
Heijmat describes Horizon as: “About finding clarity amidst chaos. It’s a journey of rediscovery, where the build-up mirrors the highs and lows we all face. I wanted it to feel like the calm after a storm—cinematic, yet deeply personal.”
The single’s artwork adds to the personal feel, merging a Polaroid taken by Heijmat’s eldest daughter and a painting by his father-in-law. It’s a fitting visual for a song that’s all about reflection and rediscovery.
A household name in mixing (with credits on Oscar and the Wolf, The Subs, and Kraak & Smaak), Heijmat continues go move forward in his own lane as an artist, with praise from Earmilk, Notion, DMY, and 1883 Magazine. His work has already landed on prestigious playlists like Brainfood, Electronic Rising, and New Music Friday, and Horizon is sure to keep that momentum going.
With Echoes of Solace on the horizon, 2025 is shaping up to be his biggest year yet.
