ill.Gates & RIP KENNY Remix Dead Kennedys’ ‘Nazi Punks Fuck Off’ For Charity

Bass music icon, innovator and production sensei ill.Gates drops his official remix of “Nazi Punk Fuck Off,” an 80s hardcore punk classic made famous by the Dead Kennedys. After spending the better part of last year chasing the band down with his demo, his remix finds a fitting and relevant release again in 2020.

Released in the 80s, ‘Nazi Punks Fuck Off’ was Dead Kennedys fifth single and an overall fiery classic. The track was prime punk in its rebellious message against authoritarian systems, and even spurred an anti-racist punk movement.

On the remix, ill.Gates stated: “I’ve always loved the Dead Kennedys. Their attitude and energy have been a huge influence on me over the years and it’s a dream come true to do this official collaboration. RIP Kenny and I made this remix in 2019 and then spent an ENTIRE YEAR trying to track down the Dead Kennedys to get permission to release it. Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys frontman) is not a big computer guy, so we had to actually burn a physical CD and mail it in… hilarious. Anyway, Jello eventually listened to it and gave us his blessing for an official release so long as we use the funds to oppose fascism. Sounds good to me.”

Much like the original release, this remix will be used to make an impact and raise awareness in the music community. All proceeds to the track will be donated to ACLU to help victims and aid in the fight against justice inequality. Furthermore, Gates hopes that its original meaning empowers fans that are currently standing up for civil rights and liberties in the U.S.
