Is Tiësto Teasing A Trance Alias Under VER:WEST?

Tiësto posted a cryptic video on social media today, reposting a video from an account called VER:WEST. Verwest is taken from Tiësto’s real name Tijs Michiel Verwest.

Thanks to a Beatport pre-order page; we know a bit more information. The track is called ‘5 Seconds Before Summer’ and is coming through Musical Freedom sub-label AFTR:HRS on July 17th.

AFTR:HRS was created to release more underground and deep music, separating it from Musical Freedom. Tiësto’s new alias is presented with the colon in the middle – VER:WEST, the same way AFTR:HRS is. This is likely indicating that VER:WEST exists for a similar reason, for Tiësto’s more underground and deep music.

While the first track would not be classified as pure trance, there are definitely elements in there. This new alias would be the perfect opportunity for Tiësto to return to his roots, pleasing a lot of fans. While the track is classified as trance on Beatport, it’s not exactly the ideal representation of the genre.

The 7 min 23 second track is different to Tiësto’s usual outputs, which points to why this would fall under a new alias. This is similar to how Calvin Harris has shifted to a more underground house style with his Love Regenerator alias.

Tiësto released ‘Ten Seconds Before Sunrise’ back in 2009. Now, 11 years later, he brings us ‘5 Seconds Before Summer’.
