Dharma Worldwide head-honcho KSHMR is revitalizing a cult classic. Reworking the hit song ‘Kids’ by MGMT, the bass-infused club heater also features Stefy De Cicco and MKLA. Having also recently announced his Dreamz side-project, it’s clear that this year, KSHMR is a man on a mission.
Taking a slightly different approach to that of his signature sound design, KSHMR allows Stefy De Cicco’s influence to be heard in the song, with his booming Brazillian basslines pumping through the speakers. The track retains the identity of the original song, while carefully imprinting its own identity on it too – a testament to the creative abilities of Hollowell-Dhar and Cicco.
The original single, which was a worldwide hit, reached the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart, whilst also receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. In addition to this, the nomination was further validated by platinum certifications earned in Australia, the UK and the United States, as well as the gold plaques earned in Italy and Denmark.
While the original single was an unquestionable hit, be sure to listen to KSHMR, Steffy De Cicco & MKLA’s new take on the single; ‘Kids’, below!
