Marvel & SiriusXM/Pandora Are Making New Original Podcast Series Including Wolverine, Hawkeye, Black Widow

Disney-owned Marvel is the latest major content brand to step into the world of Podcasts. Partnering with US-based SiriusXM for new series of shows to premiere in 2020 across its networks and the Pandora platform. The partnership will feature the likes of Wolverine, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Star-Lord among new original editorial content.

Including scripted and unscripted podcasts, the multi-year partnership will bring us new original audio stories featuring the characters as well as unique editorial conversations and interview style shows. We can expect to learn more about the Marvel brand and its history through a modern-day lens of pop culture, regular talk shows and an interview show with big-name guests.

Dan Buckley the President of Marvel Entertainment was quoted as saying “Powerful stories are read, seen, and heard – and we believe audio is the next natural step to bring the Marvel Universe to fans around the world,”, he continues “Storytelling has always been at the heart of Marvel’s success, and SiriusXM and Pandora have the right platform and expertise to bring Marvel’s rich tapestry of stories to listeners in a whole new way. We are excited to introduce an impressive roster of programming with SiriusXM and Pandora, and we can’t wait to share more details in the weeks and months to come.”

It’s also the first major step into the growing demand for Podcasts for SiriusXM. “Whether in movies, TV or other media, Marvel has been a success everywhere it goes, employing a level of quality and pop culture brilliance that organically draws massive audiences, and they are bringing that creative genius to SiriusXM and Pandora,” said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s President and Chief Content Officer.

The collaboration comes following Marvel’s 80th-anniversary panel at D23 Expo 2019 where Marvel, SiriusXM and Pandora announced plans to launch an all-new exclusive music station and limited-time channel: “Marvel’s 80th: The Road to Marvel Comics #1000” to celebrate 80 years of Marvel.  Marvel’s 80th: The Road to Marvel Comics #1000 took listeners on a journey through eight decades of music, pop culture, and the Marvel Universe, beginning in 1939, the historic year that featured the debut of the Human Torch and marked the birth of the sprawling Marvel Universe that fans know today.

Speaking further on the new partnership Scott Greenstein says, “We chose Marvel for our first major foray into creating original podcasts, and are thrilled to have Marvel create new audio programming and curate top-quality podcasts for SiriusXM and Pandora. Under our new creative collaboration with Marvel, we’ll now provide our subscribers and listeners and Marvel fans a breadth and depth of podcasts that will be an immersive adventure into the iconic Marvel universe.”
