Matthew Joseph Blesses Pop Fans With Captivating Single ‘Waiting’

Matthew Joseph has had a burning passion for music since the early days of his childhood. Partaking in dance competitions, Joseph dreamed of becoming like the global pop stars of the 2000s, such as Britney Spears. However, Joseph’s path led him to become a full-time makeup artist and model.

In 2017, Joseph was performing in London when his talent was recognized. He instantly began to record his own music and has been building momentum toward this artistic project ever since. This entertainment prodigy has quickly grown into a global influencer on TikTok with his groundbreaking single “Fetish”, along with being a finalist in the countrywide Soundwaves contest.

It has only been a couple of years since Joseph’s first release, but he has exponentially flourished as an artist. With fans extremely excited about his upcoming debut EP ‘POV’, Joseph has decided to drop the lead single “Waiting” for his supporters. Collabing with veteran producer Chris Hall, Joseph mesmerizes listeners with his seductive vocals throughout the track.

Discussing the inspiration behind “Waiting”, Joseph shares, “I Wrote the lyrics of this song about my POV of constantly waiting for my boyfriend. Waiting for what is open for interpretation. I wrote a draft of ‘waiting’ in 2020 about waiting for my big music industry break! Then another for waiting for a proposal and this is both a guess, lots of hidden meanings.” Between the vintage pop production and tantalizing lyrics, “Waiting” puts Joseph’s promising future as an artist under the spotlight.

How did you end up deciding you wanted to start the ‘Matthew Joseph’ music alias?

Matthew Joseph is just who I am and who I’ve always been. Bringing him to life as an artist was a choice I made in 2015 when I realised this is what I was born to do… and it all just fell into place. Matthew Joseph does things that daytime Matt could never do hahah!

What type of message do you hope fans gather from ‘Waiting?’

I just want the message to be ‘to have fun’ with the song.  The song itself has tongue in cheek meaning.  The repeated abbreviation POV is heard throughout the song, so it’s all about my point of view. The message is to be empowered by your own feelings and own them like I do in the song!

What advice would you give to younger artists starting out to help them grow and succeed?

Know what you want. Being clear with what you want is something important to start with. Then practice, practice, practice with whatever it is you want to do. Work hard, be passionate and never stop dreaming bigger goals.

What is your favourite part of being an artist? Perhaps songwriting, playing shows, or something else?

For me, performing live is where I come to life, there’s nothing quite like the energy of a big, live and engaged audience!

I do love all aspects of the entertainment industry though. Songwriting is an art I’ve grown to love. Getting all my feelings and emotions out in a song is therapy. I also love the glam and theatrical side of music. The music videos, the concepts, the makeup and fashion are all just as exciting to me.
