Michael Bibi’s latest block party took place in Brooklyn, New York, and it was one of his greatest acts yet. Set up right on the water, Teksupport did an excellent job of curating a vibe from location to production. The production set up was great, with a vibrating lights and a pulsating bass. The set up of the venue was nearly perfect, with accessible bathrooms and bars right when you entered. The dance floor was also spaced out pretty well as I had ample room to dance all night.
Michael Bibi’s set was truly incredible. Within the 3 hour set, he was able to tell a story from start to finish. Every single song and the order in which they were mixed felt intentional. He tapped into multiple sub-genres, starting off with a more minimal vibe and picking up the tech-house as sun went down. The last hour of the show was an out of body experience. Bibi played sounds that I’ve never heard before. He curated a vibe that created a sense of community that the scene sometimes needs to be reminded of. The word on the street is that the wind was a paid actor. From people hugging their friends, to strangers meeting each other in the crowd, that last hour was something special.
Getting out of the crowd at the end of the show was a bit of a challenge, but Teksupport has only improved in creating a safe space and is going to keep getting better. As for Michael Bibi, this was my second time seeing him and while I’ve always understood the hype, this show exceeded my expectations. The storytelling that came with this set was special and I can’t say enough about it. Bibi took us on a journey from start to finish and I’m so glad I got to experience it.
