Review: ‘Quiz’ Is A Bingeable Drama That Stretches Its Run Time

Quiz, the ITV three-part series, offers a compelling dramatization of the infamous Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? cheating scandal involving Charles and Diana Ingram. The show brings to life the bizarre courtroom drama that followed, exploring whether the couple really cheated or were simply caught in a media frenzy. With strong performances—particularly from Matthew Macfadyen as Charles Ingram, Sian Clifford as Diana Ingram, and Michael Sheen as host Chris Tarrant—the series does an excellent job of making this unusual real-life story both engaging and entertaining.

While Quiz is well-acted and intriguing, the three-episode format feels somewhat stretched, with certain segments appearing as filler. The story remains gripping, but a tighter two-part structure might have enhanced the pacing. That said, the show is very easy to binge, as the mix of drama, humor, and tension keeps viewers hooked throughout.

Despite any minor pacing issues, Quiz was a major success, drawing in millions of viewers in the UK and receiving strong critical acclaim. It was later aired in the U.S. on AMC, where it also found an audience intrigued by its mix of true crime and television nostalgia. The series manages to strike a balance between fact and entertainment, leaving viewers questioning what really happened and how much influence the media had on public perception.

In summary, Quiz is a highly watchable, well-performed dramatization of a fascinating scandal. Even if it could have been slightly shorter, it remains an engaging and binge-worthy retelling of one of the most infamous moments in British game show history.
