Sing Sing is a moving drama based on the true story of incarcerated men at New York’s Sing Sing Correctional Facility who find purpose and connection through theatre. Inspired by the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) program, the film follows Divine G (played by Colman Domingo) and a group of inmates as they prepare a stage production that becomes much more than just a performance.
Rather than following a conventional narrative structure, the film leans into the emotional journeys of its characters. As it unfolds, Sing Sing quietly builds a powerful sense of transformation, capturing how creativity and collaboration can foster growth, reflection, and healing.
Colman Domingo is exceptional in the lead role, delivering a performance full of depth and restraint. Paul Raci and Sean San José also bring warmth and authenticity to the ensemble. But some of the most striking moments come from the men who play themselves—former inmates who were part of the real RTA program. Their performances are raw, heartfelt, and incredibly effective, adding a rare kind of truth to the story.
Sing Sing is a quiet but deeply impactful film, showcasing how art can restore dignity, build community, and unlock hope in even the most unlikely places.
