The Thoughtful Melodic Techno of Himbrecht’s ‘Self Sufficient’ EP

Himbrecht’s Self Sufficient EP is a rare gem in today’s electronic music scene—a blend of melodic techno and experimentation that feels fresh and intentional. Released on David Hohme’s Where the Heart Is Records, the three-track collection highlights Himbrecht’s focus on artistry over trends. Balancing technicality with a sense of musical personality, the release entrances you with a calming, yet inquisitive atmosphere.

This mindset defines his process. The title track, started in April, evolved over months before its September release. “I’m focusing more on how a track feels than how it sounds,” he shares. This mix of precision and instinct sets “Self Sufficient” apart in a world often chasing perfection at the cost of magic.

Looking ahead, Himbrecht sees sound selection as key in today’s crowded industry. “It’s less about over-engineered tracks and more about killer samples and vibes,” he says. From early favorites like Vangelis and Timbaland to the forward-thinking sounds of Stimming and Kollektiv Turmstrasse, his approach is as eclectic as it is personal. For him, it’s all about finding your voice. “Trends shift,” he says. “In the long run, it’s better to carve out your own thing than copy others.”

For Himbrecht, 2025 will certainly see new listings to his catalog as he heads into the next chapter of his story.
