Leaker Jane Wong has just discovered a new feature in testing within Spotify – the ability to mix songs together yourself, allowing adjustments to the bpm, key and showcasing the waveform.
It seems you’re able to automix a playlist with Spotify, then jump in further to refine the transitions yourself. This would then present a new way to showcase playlists. Previously, you could share a playlist that would play track by track, but now you can present a playlist mixed to your liking.
Examining the images that Wong shared showcases the ability to see the BPM and Camelot key of the track, which is quite precise. Also, the images show the waveform between two songs, likely providing you the ability to scrub between the tracks to choose where to start and finish the transition, mixing to your liking.
There are no public release details provided at this point, but this could certainly be something that is included in Spotify’s long-leaked Ultra premium plan.
Spotify is working on Mixing, a mixtape-like tool for curating how the playlist transitions between musics, down to the beat, effect, waveform, etc
