Chicago’s own surf skate punk trio The Basement Party crash back into the spotlight with “High Tide Era,” a hard-charging new single that sets the tone for their upcoming full-length project. Out now and released independently, the track channels the chaos, attitude, and gritty energy that’s become their signature—now more refined and ready to travel beyond the basements and skate parks that got them there.
“High Tide Era” is like a rising surge. Guitars are soaked in reverb but never out of control, snapping between jagged riff work and sun-baked licks. The rhythm section is all momentum—drums and bass locking in like a back alley sprint.
Formed in 2023, The Basement Party—made up of Jámir Nelson Tolivér (vocals/guitar), Danny Delaney (bass), and Vu Tran (drums)—have spent the last year cultivating a regional following across the Midwest. Their 2023 EP My Human Condition and follow-up single “Don’t Look Back” set the foundation, but “High Tide Era” is a new chapter. It opens the door toward a bigger cycle that includes more releases and a debut album expected in summer 2025.
Known for igniting small rooms and turning local gigs into immersive and memorable nights, the trio’s no-frills ethos and hybrid sound pull equally from old-school skate punk and West Coast surf. “High Tide Era” proves they’re not just scene favorites anymore – they’re building something bigger, wave by wave.
