This past Friday, The Martinez Brothers reminded New York exactly why they’re our hometown heroes. Originally set to play at Brooklyn Mirage, the duo made a last-minute pivot to Brooklyn Storehouse due to ongoing construction — but the change of venue didn’t just preserve the night, it transformed it into something even more unforgettable. For over three hours (and then some), Steve and Chris Martinez delivered a set to 6,000 fans in a sold-out warehouse that was out of this world — literally and figuratively.
Known for their marathon sets and unmatched ability to curate vibes, the siblings took things to another galaxy with this one. The crowd was locked in from start to finish, entranced by a genre-bending journey of house, Latin grooves, and the signature Martinez Brothers sound. It was ID after ID — my poor Shazam didn’t stand a chance.
Musically, it was one of the best sets I’ve heard in a while — and it was elevated even further by the full-scale production. A massive UFO hung over the crowd, pumping out smoke as lasers sliced through the air, CO2 blasts on the beat drops, huge visuals lit up the warehouse — a glimpse into the show they originally planned for Mirage, reimagined perfectly for the Storehouse.

For two DJs whose roots run deep in NYC, this wasn’t just another gig. It was a statement. As someone who is familiar with the Martinez Brothers, my expectations were high and yet they still blew me away. The only downside? The fact that it eventually had to end — the vibes were so high I could’ve danced for hours more.
Backed by a stacked lineup featuring Honeyluv, Malóne, and Simon Heyliger, the brothers proved they can headline a massive show in their city with the same force they bring to the scene in Miami or Ibiza. If Friday night was any indication, their upcoming 15-week residency at Hï Ibiza this summer will be nothing short of extraterrestrial.
What went down last weekend wasn’t your average night out — it was one of those rare moments where everything clicks: the music, the energy, the crowd, the city. The kind of night that reminds you why we show up, why we dance, and why The Martinez Brothers are in a league of their own. The energy that they bring makes you leave the dance floor craving the next one.
