The Weeknd Unveils First Trailer for His Psychological Thriller ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’

Abel Tesfaye, known globally as The Weeknd, has revealed the official trailer for his upcoming film Hurry Up Tomorrow. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the psychological thriller stars Tesfaye in his first leading film role alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan.

The film follows a musician struggling with insomnia who embarks on a surreal and unsettling journey with a mysterious stranger, leading to a series of events that challenge his perception of reality. The trailer, released earlier today, sets an eerie tone, featuring an inverted cityscape, moments of deep introspection, and haunting narration from Ortega’s character, Anima. Throughout, the phrase “Call me by the old familiar name” is repeated, hinting at the film’s themes of identity and memory.

Tesfaye, who co-wrote and produced the film, described the project as “introspective and cathartic,” emphasizing its deep emotional core and exploration of mental health. With its moody visuals, intense performances, and a dreamlike narrative, Hurry Up Tomorrow is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing releases of the year.

The film is set to hit theaters on May 16, 2025. Watch the full trailer below:
