TheFatRat Taps NEFFEX For Vocal Version Of Famed Outro Song ‘Back One Day’

TheFatRat today releases a new vocal version of the viral hit ‘Xenogenesis’, now called ‘Back One Day’. Teaming up with NEFFEX, the new vocal edit is a great addition to the already successful release. Previously released in 2014, the original was used for years by the gaming community as a way to end their videos, the instrumental received a new burst of popularity this year when it took TikTok by storm, generating over 250 million views within a few weeks with the so-called “Outro trend.” The trend is currently going viral on social media and engaging celebrities, fans and media alike, as seen by Nick Kroll on The Tonight Show, Lil Nas X, and massively popular YouTuber Collins Key.

“When I initially made the track Xenogenesis, I planned to have vocals on it. But at that time in 2014 I didn’t have any contact with a vocalist that would fit so I simply released the instrumental on its own,” TheFatRat explains. “When the “Outro Song” trend started on TikTok this year, it inspired me to revisit the song and finally bring it to its full potential.” Sticking to his core values of being close to his fanbase, when he asked the online community which rappers they currently listen to, the response was overwhelmingly one name – NEFFEX. It turned out to be a perfect fit as both artists share the same philosophy of being fiercely independent and releasing music free to use for creatives.

“Working with NEFFEX was such a pleasure. Just like me, he’s someone who is used to producing everything on his own, from the very first idea to the final master. So he brought a lot of expertise into the process. He combined positive energy with sensibility in his vocals. Exactly what the song needed.” – TheFatRat

“The FatRat has built an incredible following, so getting to come together and create something both of our audiences can enjoy was something I was excited to jump into,” said NEFFEX. “It’s really fun to be a part of taking a viral song and turning it into something we think could be even more special.”
