Tomorrowland Weekend One Recap: Shaq, Eric Prydz, Avicii Tributes + More

As Tomorrowland wraps up the first weekend of it’s 15th year anniversary, we have taken a look at some of the highlights from the trio of days.

Shaquille O’Neal/DJ Diesel Goes Crazy In The Crowd

Shaq performed as DJ Diesel at Tomorrowland, you can check his full set here. He also had a fun time moshing in the crowd and showing them how it’s done!

3 Are Legend (Steve Aoki, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike) Close Down Weekend One

With appearances from acts such as KSHMR, Nervo, Timmy Trumpet, Afrojack and more, this was quite the closing set. Even closing with Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Don’t You Worry Child’. Like Tiësto, they also memorialized Avicii by playing a handful of his productions. The full set should be officially released soon.

Eric Prydz Debuts Epic 6.0

The EPIC 6.0 show saw Prydz perform in a giant, specially-constructed spherical cage, flanked by immersive, 3D visuals and a moving light rig. Prydz welcomed the likes of Camelphat, Pryda Presents label affiliate Cristoph and Yotto for the Holosphere takeover at the Freedom stage, before taking over from Tiga for the headline slot. 

Tiësto Playing Emotional Avicii Tribute

On Day 1, Tiësto performed an Avicii tribute with a mashup of Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman’s ‘Penny’ and Avicii’s ‘Without You’. Tiësto did get emotional playing it and he would not have been alone.

Timmy Trumpet Brings Out Vitas

Timmy Trumpet invited Russian artist Vitas who played his viral track ‘7th Element’ with a Timmy Trumpet edit also! Quite a strange and unexpected surprise!
