Top 10 Must-See Acts At Metro Metro Festival 2022

The highly anticipated hip-hop festival Metro Metro will occur from May 20th to the 22nd, 2022, at the historical Olympic park in Montreal, Canada. After two years of wait, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hip-hop fanatics will finally have the chance to hear some of the biggest names in the industry.

 Here is our guide to having a successful time and not missing out on great acts.

10. Smiley

Starting with number 10, we have the Toronto-native rapper Smiley. Featured with Drake on the song “Over The Top,” the 24-yeard old, who signed to Drake’s record label OVO is one of the newest faces of rap in Canada.

9. Loud

The Montreal native rapper, Loud is no stranger to the Quebec rap and hip-hop scene. With numerous awards, such as best Francophone Album of the Year (2019) at the Juno awards and best Hip-Hop album of the year at the Felix award (2019), Loud is a crowd favourite with his singles “Tout les femmes savent danser”.

8. Lil Tecca

The 19-year-old New York City native, Lil Tecca, rose to fame with his hit single “Ransom,” which charted at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Lil Tecca has since built a fanbase since his debut album Virgo Album released in 2020, which continues to grow bigger and bigger.

7. Lil pump

One of the biggest rappers coming out of SoundCloud, Lil Pump, gained mainstream fame with his hit “Gucci Gang,” which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. He has collaborated in the past with Lil Wayne and Kanye West.

6. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie

Artist Julius Dubose, also known as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, is a New York City native who gained recognition with his singles ” Numbers” and “Look Back at it”. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is set to release a new album in 2022 entitled “A Boogie vs Artist.”

5. Don Toliver

From his hits “No Idea” and “After Party,” Don Toliver has produced and collaborated alongside the biggest names in music, such as Eminem, Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Skrillex. He has since released two studio albums, “Heaven or Hell” in 2020 and “Life of a Don” in 2021.

4. Polo G

Rapper Polo G gained recognition with his song “Finer Things” and “Pop Out (feat. Lil Tjay). In addition, Polo G is known for his lyrics on subjects on social issues such as racism. He has released four albums, including the most recent “Hall of Fame 2.0” in 2021.

3. Trippie Redd

Trippie Redd, one of the biggest rappers coming out of the Soundcloud rap scene, will perform on May 20th. He rose to fame with his single “Love Scars.” He has collaborated with Future, Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, Drake and Playboi Carti.

2. Lil Baby

Lil Baby, born in Atlanta, Georgia; is one of the most exciting rappers right now with hit songs “Yes Indeed” and “Drip too hard.”  He was recently awarded Best Melodic Rap Performance with the song “Hurricane” with Kanye West and The Weeknd at the 2022 Grammy Awards. Lil Baby is set to headline the festival on May 21st.

1. Playboi Carti

And lastly, at number 1 is no one other than Playboi Carti. Playboi Carti is no stranger to the hip-hop world, with his notable hits “Magnolia” and “Sky.” Carti, one of the festival’s headliners, is set to perform on the last night, on Sunday, May 22nd.
