Remix Radar 005: Featuring Skrillex, Jauz, and Louis The Child

Remix Radar 005 coming in hot with vengeance. This week has a healthy dose of remixes from big-name producers with the likes of Skrillex, Louis The Child, Jauz and more serving up delicious beats.

Kelsey Lu – Due West (Skrillex Remix)

Kelsey Lu is a god damn national treasure. The North Carolina native deserves far more attention than what she’s garnered thus far. Who better to provide a spark than Skrillex. Master Sonny – who is also credited on the original “Due West” – flips the song into a shimmering, hypnotic summer track, perfect for the season and upcoming festivals.

Today, Skrillex also released the Dog Blood mini mix with Boys Noize. It’s a wild journey. Give it a listen after the “Due West” remix.

Death Cab For Cutie – I Dreamt We Spoke Again (Louis The Child Remix)

Louis The Child serve up a crisp, refreshing mojito-like remix of Death Cab For Cutie’s “I Dreamt We Spoke Again”. The duo opt for a melodic and chill vibed future bass styled remix, which is a nice change of pace for Louis The Child. This track is another one I expect to hear in many DJ sets this summer.

SHAED – Trampoline (Jauz Remix)

The song you know from an Apple commercial, SHAED’s “Trampoline” receives an unexpected twist from Jauz. Utilizing an old-school dubstep drop, Jauz breathes a timelessness into “Trampoline” and elevates it amongst the dubstep classics. SHAED’s vocals serve as the perfect muse for the dubstep styling.

Lemaitre – Smoke (Coucheron Remix)

If there is a genre known as “cute trap”, Coucheron’s remix of “Smoke” would be the quintessential track. The Grammy-nominated Norwegian producer provides a clear style and energy that shines through with a “cute vibe” drawing a spotlight on elements not common in stereotypical trap beats.

Oliver Heldens – This Groove (Codeko Remix)

Codeko has made quite a bit of noise since the dawning of 2019. He makes a triumphant return to our ears with a piano-laden house remix of Oliver Helden’s “This Groove”. True to the repeated vocal, this remix definitely “makes me wanna move” with a beating grove cemented to its core. This track is perfect for a special kind of party. Think Leonardo DiCaprio’s Great Gatsby party scene.

Deorro – Wild Like The Wind (Benny Benassi & DJ Licious Remix)

Legend of the decks, Benny Benassi teams-up with DJ Licious (who has been making noise on Don Diablo’s Hexagon Records) to remix Deorro’s “Wild Like The Wind”. The duo drizzle dystopian vibes into the veins of the original to maintain the essence of “Wild Like The Wind”, while constructing something new for listeners to munch on.

Above & Beyond Ft. Zoë Johnston – Alchemy (i_o Remix)

i_o conjures magic with his remix of Above & Beyond’s “Alchemy”. The mysterious producer evolves “Alchemy” into a post-apocalyptic techno beat with a tranquil edge fit for fans of both techno and trance.

MEDUZA Ft. Goodboys – Piece Of Your Heart (CYA Remix)

Clearly I can’t get enough of this track. The ultra popular “Piece Of Your Heart” receives another remix, this time from CYA. The duo spin MEDUZA’s hit single into a vibrant, atmospheric deep house tune. CYA utilize delicate synths and swelling bass to create an encapsulating sound design. The remix is perfect for fans of Lane 8, Yotto, and Anjunadeep.

ONE FROM THE VAULT

Konsequence – Bad Girl (Teen Daze Remix)

This week’s One From The Vault comes all the way from the year 2015. Burgeoning artist, Teen Daze creates a vibrant groove for, German brother duo, Konsequence’s “Bad Girl”. The song has an infectious beat and a delightful vocal that gently melts into the listener’s eardrums. A perfect song for daytime parties this summer.

Teen Daze has been making quite the noise in 2019. He is currently on his North American tour and put out his album, Bioluminescence, in April. I have really enjoyed the album and definitely suggest giving it a listen.
