Tourist Shifts Direction With Trance-Inspired LP ‘Music Is Invisible’

GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter and producer Tourist has released his new album, Music Is Invisible. Available now via Queens Road Music, AndRECORDS and Atlantic Records, the project marks his sixth studio album and represents a bold shift into new sonic territory.

The album embraces an energised, trance-inspired direction that the artist has been hinting at throughout the summer. The rollout included mysterious billboards in London directing fans to trancealbum.com. The record is described as his most luminous and emotionally charged work to date.

Music Is Invisible features the kinetic new track ‘In Unison’, alongside recent singles ‘Embrace’ and ‘Outside’. The latter was released with a cinematic official music video directed by Duncan Loudon. The album also includes ‘Veil’, which samples ‘So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth’ by Grimes, and features a guest appearance from ambient composer Julianna Barwick.

I love to tell melodic stories, and trance is all about melodic stories,” says Tourist. “The root of this album was my instinct as a musician. I’ve discovered an older sense of myself by making this body of work.”

Tourist recently celebrated the release with a vinyl test pressing listening party for local fans. Looking ahead, he will embark on The Invisible Tour 2026. The run of dates begins on February 22 at SWG3 in Glasgow and includes stops at O2 Academy Brixton in London, Melkweg in Amsterdam, and Ancienne Belgique in Brussels.
