As the 23rd of February rolled around, the stage was set for Ultra Melbourne and Ultra Sydney. Having successfully pulled off ‘Road To Ultra’ the year before, we all knew it was going to be a bigger lineup, bigger stage and bigger theatrics – it definitely delivered on that. The weather couldn’t have been any better with blue skies and perfect temperature throughout the day and into the night. The event was well laid out and had easy access to all stages, food, bars and toilets.
The Ultra Main Stage looked incredible as expected, with headliners such as Martin Garrix, Marshmello, Illenium, Slushi, Will Sparks and The Chainsmokers (alongside Matt Maguire on drums) who closed out the event. The duo left the fans wanting more, as fireworks went off and confetti rained down on the attendees.
Resistance stage didn’t disappoint either, some local acts kicked off the stage with special live sets. Then handing over to some international veterans such as Joris Voorn and also an exceptional Nicole Moudaber B2B Dubfire set. Finally, Adam Beyer closed off the stage with nothing but class.
Over at the UMF Radio stage saw an array of local talent, which saw some of the best Australian acts such as Tigerlily, Mashd N Kutcher, Joel Fletcher and Tyron Hapi just to name a few.
Overall the event went very smoothly, with a good police and medical presence. The staff were very comforting for patrons with complimentary water stations and sunscreen. The response from the 40,000+ attendee was everything but negative. With a 2020 iteration locked in, we cannot wait to experience another magical festival day.
