K-pop idol sensations BLACKPINK today unveiled the highly anticipated new single ‘Ice Cream’ with US pop starlet Selena Gomez. The release follows their Lady Gaga collaboration “Sour Candy” and is is the second single off Blackpink: The Album. adding to their own global hit single ‘How You Like That’ which has amassed over 140 million streams on Spotify and almost half a billion views on YouTube.
The new single is paired with a playful and eye-catching colourful music video which feels like it was picked out of a set of Willy Wonka, it stars a number of cute animals. Sonically the new single is infectious and so sweet it could give the listener a need to head to the dentist. BLACKPINK again veer down the path of trap injected pop for the new addition, launch, however, ‘Ice Cream’ leans significantly more into pop world.
In anticipation of this new single, Gomez was reported to invest in the ice cream brand Serendipity and along with the release of the song, a special flavour called Cookies & Cream Remix (with pink vanilla ice cream) is set to go on sale Friday.
Joining with Gomez, these two have armed a global audience of dedicated fans which no doubt going to proppel the new track high into the charts for months to come.
