Watch Point Blank’s Ski Oakenfull Deconstructs Avicii’s “SOS” at IMS College Malta

One of the most impactful international music events, IMS College – Malta was held September 13-14 of 2019, organized by International Music Summit. In the two day event, that was catered to music college students, Ski Oakenfull, Head of Curriculum at award-winning music school Point Blank, deconstructed “SOS” by the late Avicii, going through the different drum grooves heard in the song, the music theory behind, it as well as displaying how it interpolates the R&B classic “No Scrubs” by TLC. 

Point Blank was founded in in London in 1994 by musician and producer Robert Cowan, and has since expanded to teaching in campuses all around the world (London, Los Angeles, Ibiza, Mumbai and Hangzhou), as well as offering extensive online courses. Goldie, Felix Jaehn, Nicole Moudaber, Claude VonStroke, Leona Lewis and Mishlawti are all notable alumni of the school, that is definitely reshaping the way music and production are taught.
