Willaris. K Joins Astralwerks With ‘5 O’CLOCK/PAST LIGHT’ Record

From supporting RÜFÜS DU SOL on tour and having a packed Australian summer schedule, Willaris. K is on top of his game and this new record solidifies that. The record featurs the left-field techno A-side ‘5 O’CLOCK’, and ambient B-side ‘PAST LIGHT’.

Having attracted early references to experimental tastemakers such as Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins and Willian Basinski, the trained pianist and producer has positioned himself in the realm of textural sound, straddling tension and release in his two-track cinematic composition. Partnering with multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer Chris Kore, the package is accompanied by a stunning visualizer that explores multi-dimensional plains of light, movement and mixed realities.

‘5 O’CLOCK’ IS different to his other music which is what makes it so special. There is the standard piano key opening before it transcends into a perfect chaos of sirens and synths. It gradually builds up to a frantic pace right at the epilogue of the production.

‘PAST LIGHT’ is slower, similar to ‘Cobaki Sky’ from his Natural Selection EP. It’s Willaris. K at his best, softly fading in and out in a mesmerising fashion.

Whilst this contains just 2 productions, the listening experience on the EP is far greater that previous. What makes Willaris. K’s songs so great is that they bring a truly different experience each time you listen.

Signing with Astralwerks is just the icing on the cake of what will be a monumental year for the young Australian. We patiently await the next release!
