EDC Reveals Day 2 Secret Addition

After Pasquale Rotella (EDC CEO) teased the first secret guest on Thursday, Skrillex has asked him if he can ‘spare an hour‘. This is a clear indication that Skrillex will play his ‘surprise‘ set tonight at 10:30 PM (Las Vegas time) at circuitGROUNDS. Apart from appearing shortly during Marshmello’s 2016 set, Skrillex has not played at the Las Vegas iteration for some time. Jhené Aiko's Back With Emotionally Charged Freestyle on 'Triggered'

The neo-soul meets R&B creative force Jhené Aiko is without a doubt one of our favourite modern artists. Her soothing voice delivered on top of precision crafted beats is better than payday itself. No matter how aggressive her intelligent lyrics might be, she exudes luscious textured sounds that send us into relaxation with style.

Having penned certified hits such as ‘Sativa'‘ and coming off the back of her acclaimed album “Trip” back in 2017. Now we’re hoping a new album is on the way, but while we wait for confirmation we are happy to receive the emotionally charged new single titled “Triggered”, one of her Freestyles.

On writing her most recent album Trip she was quoted as saying “ I put it all in the music. It’s a puzzle I want people to put together”. While with “Triggered” she’s made clear via a series of Tweets that it’s not a diss track of Big Sean, but we can read that it certainly appears it was about him.

It’s titled with "Freestyle” following on from another “Wasted Love” the first of her freestyle releases was back in 2013 on on her mini album “Sail Out” which featured collaborations with Vince Staples, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar.

The Newest Single From Bobby Love Is The Perfect Chill Summertime Anthem

If you’re looking for the perfect beach chillout song to kick off the warmer season, look no further. Toronto native Bobby Love has returned this week with a perfectly chill new creation “Why” featuring Olive B.

“Why” marks the second time the pair have collaborated, after previous single “New Love” which dropped back in February. “Why” maintains the same laid back vibes as “New Love”, but carries a decidedly brighter and more sunny, tropical feel. If the two tracks sound slightly similar however, that’s no coincidence; Bobby says he utilized one of Olive B’s unused vocal lines from “New Love” and gave them a place to shine on “Why”.

"I've always loved the lyrics and performance of Olive B's voice on that verse in particular, so I decided to build a new song entirely around them,” Bobby says. “There's a certain emotion in what she's trying to say that I felt needed to be brought to life.” After laying down guitar chords and a melody, he found he’d crafted a whole new idea. “I've recently been obsessed with trying to capture an organic sound while still being electronic and familiar with my previous releases,” he continues. “I feel this song really captures that.”

Bobby Love is the latest export from the ever-growing Toronto club scene. He’s made a name for himself playing at some of the city’s top venues, and he’s taken his mixing talents to a larger audience with opening slots for the likes of Hannah Wants, Wankelmut, and Danny Howard. Plus, his remixes for top artists like Felix Cartal and MiC Lowry have garnered massive acclaim. When his 2018 original mix of “Still” featuring Ben Stevenson achieved viral success, it became clear that Bobby Love is set to become the next big thing.

LAUV Drops New Song 'Drugs & The Internet' Along With Trippy Video

If you saw LAUV drop a new single today an expected something mellow when you hit play, think again. As of today we’re introduced to a new direction for LAUV and we’re loving it!. The new single “Drugs & The Internet” is an impressive and powerful anthem, with gritty production and smart lyrics.

The main hook “I traded all my friends for drugs and the internet, Ah shit, am I a winner yet?” appears to draw ties between the addiction and social media fame. It comes along with an equally impressive and out of the box music video which supports our initial first thoughts.

It starts off walking alone in the night he kicks a broken PC monitor and is transported into a trippy new dimension of coloured walls, prescription bottles, VHS tapes, neon lights, animal filters, and jumps to him sat at a table full of mannequins and models and taking a spoonful of jelly (which was also featured in the video for NIKI’s ‘Lowkey’ which we covered yesterday). The video takes one last twist when he jumps back to the original scene, however as it zooms out it shows Lauv watching himself.

This ones without a doubt destined to hit radio waves worldwide in no time, and we’ll be singing along!

NIKI's back with a brand new single on 'lowkey'

NIKI’s back today with new music, and we’re delighted - as is her steadily growing supporters now counting in the hundreds of thousands. She strikes back with “lowkey”, her first single of the year arriving on 88 Rising/ 12 Tone Records.

Combining her luscious delicate vocals with a catchy spaced beat on top of wavy synths, the song describes a forbidden love, wanting a relationship but needing to keep it “lowkey”, away from the public eye. It comes along with a stunning “Visualiser” featuring NIKI sitting down sipping away on tea, and dry ice rising meanwhile situated in a yellow and blue coloured room and paired with a matching outfit, fruits, vegetables, eggs and jelly.

After making a splash with her debut singles “See U Never” and the breakout “I Like U” back in 2017, she raised the eye brows worldwide. Last year NIKI let the world know she was here to stay with her highly acclaimed EP “Zephyr” on top features on label mate Rich Brian’s debut Album ‘Amen’ and Higher Brothers 'Five Stars’. She continued to further cement her rise by supporting Halsey on tour throughout Asia and performing at 88 Risings first festival in LA “Head In The Clouds”.

Wake Up to Morning Maxwell's 'Lost My Love'

Today we get the pleasure of premiering a brand new, freshly chilled release from Melbourne talent, MorningMaxwell who this week drops a new EP titled ‘Escape’. The emotive lead single ‘Lost My Love’ expertly blends soothing and seductive vocals of starlet Velvet Bloom with euphoric synths and a wide soundscape, in all creating a soulful delicate house record we’ve been vibe-ing to since it landed in our inbox.

With an appreciation for the unusual, MorningMaxwell - a typically eccentric and high-energy artist based out of Melbourne showcases a never before seen side on the EP. A true getaway from the thumping bass-lines, Escape is described by Max as “the soulful escape, the perfect Sunday chillers, on the way to work vibers, and kick your feet up tea sippers”.

Maxwell, keep them coming morning or night! ‘Escape’ will be available on all stores on the 24th of April 2019, so add it to your playlists and get your chill on.

Riddim Commission's Latest Single is The Next UK Club House Staple

UK duo Riddim Commission are back with their first original solo single of 2019, and it’s bound to take the house music world by storm. “Look So Cute” is quite possibly one of the most infectious and fun house songs I’ve heard all year, which is exactly what house music needs and should be.

The track doesn’t take itself too seriously, yet at the same time displays a level of maturity and class that could only come from a duo as prolific and respected as Riddim Commission. It’s a UK Club dream combination of house, grime, and hip hop that is impossible not to have fun listening to. It’s fun and entertaining nature is due in part to catchy pop-rap vocals lended by UK pop artist Gabi’el, which lead into a punchy yet bubbly high-energy drop.

Riddim Commission, comprised of industry major players Marco Del Horno and DJ Swerve, have carved a name for themselves in the scene as highly respected record bosses and hosts for Radio 1Xtra, Rinse FM and KISS FM. After dropping their debut album in 2017, the pair have scene support from industry heavyweights like Skream, DJ Target, and Annie Mac, plus crafting official remixes for the likes of Drake, Example, and Rae Sremmurd. It would seem the only way is up for these industry powerhouses.

Avicii's Single 'SOS' From Upcoming Album Is Here
avicii -banner.png

After officially announcing the new album a few days ago, Avicii’s team and family have released ‘SOS’, the single off his posthumous album ‘TIM‘. SOS features Aloe Blacc making it their third collaboration, with the previous two being ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Liar Liar’.

The lyrics kick off ‘Can You Hear Me SOS, help me put my mind to rest”, and continues to address elements of struggles and darkness linked with depression and addiction, yet it describes someone ready to get help. Hearing these lyrics and Avicii’s work is chilling knowing this was the music he was working on around the time off his tragic passing.

All proceeds from the new music and album will go to a newly formed charity by Avicii’s family entitled ‘Tim Bergling Foundation’, a nonprofit dedicated to helping treat mental illness and prevent suicide. The charity will officially launch on the one year anniversary of Tim’s death; April 20th.

Carl Falk, who worked with Avicii and has been working on this album for the past 6 months struggled to finalise the album: “I was trying to produce through someone else’s eyes and ears — someone who’s not here,” he said with vexed intensity, while sitting at his control board. “It was really hard not to criticize yourself the whole time. Would he like this? What would he have done?”

This is going to be a very emotional month for Avicii’s fans. We will remember him.

Given the circumstances surrounding his passing, we’d like to also make note. If you or someone you know is going through difficult times, the international helpline numbers can be found here.

Lyrics - Avicii’s SOS
[Verse 1]
Can you hear me? SOS
Help me put my mind to rest
Two times clear again I'm acting low
A pound of weed and a bag of blow

[Chorus]
I can feel your love pulling me up from the underground
And I don't need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers
I can feel your touch picking me up from the underground
And I don't need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers

[Post-Chorus]
We could be more than just part-time lovers
We could be more than just part-time lovers

[Verse 2]
I get robbed of all my sleep
As my thoughts begin to leave
I let go but I don't know how
Yeah I don't know how but I need to now

[Chorus]
I can feel your love pulling me up from the underground
And I don't need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers
I can feel your touch picking me up from the underground
And I don't need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers
I can feel your touch picking me up from the underground
I don't need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers

[Post-Chorus]
We could be more than just part-time lovers
We could be more than just part-time lovers

[Outro]
Can you hear me? SOS
Help me put my mind to rest

Avicii Album 'TIM' Officially Annouced
Screen Shot 2019-04-06 at 12.51.33 am.png

With Avicii’s unfortunate passing last year - a lot of unreleased music was left behind. We hoped that we would see some of that in a posthumous manner and luckily we are in for a emotional rollercoaster. An album appropriately titled ‘TIM’ is coming June 6th. A single called ‘SOS‘ will be released beforehand on April 10th.

All proceeds from this album will go to a newly formed charity by Avicii’s family entitled ‘Tim Bergling Foundation’, a nonprofit dedicated to helping treat mental illness and prevent suicide.

This is going to be a very emotional yet exciting month for Avicii fans. We will remember him.

Getter Cancels Tour After Unnecessary Backlash
Annotation 2019-04-04 212422.jpg

Having faced backlash from ‘fans‘ for his music and shows as of late - Getter has unfortunately cancelled his Visceral tour with 7 more dates ahead. He had attendees booing at a show because they didn’t like his set as well as messaging him via social media after the show to express their disappointment. After this miserable event, many acts and real fans have had his back and provided support. It should never get to this.

Having moved from his heavy dubstep sound to a more electronic less heavy sound in his latest album ‘Visceral‘. This tour conveniently named ‘Visceral‘ obviously takes a lot of inspiration from his latest album. Many fans did not like this transition from dubstep. However, if you go to a Visceral show and should expect it to be similar to his album. It is really unfair to Getter if you do not like his show. Getter should have never been in the position where he is cancelling his tour, that it out of order. We feel for Getter and really hope for the sake of the artist this does not happen to anyone again.

KFC’S Colonel Sanders Is Set To Play on Ultra's Mainstage

Something you don’t see everyday is a a collaboration between KFC and Ultra Music Festival, however it’s happening. Colonel Sanders is set to play(?) a 5 minute set between Dzeko and Nora En Pure on the mainstage on Friday.

It’s not known at this point what will happen in those 5 minutes. With the real Colonel Sanders dying in the 80’s, there’s a possibility that someone dresses as him could actually play a DJ set. However with a 5 minute time frame, not much music would get played. Maybe KFC have a track to premier? We will find out soon, catch Colonel Sanders playing the mainstage at Ultra 15:55-16:00 Miami time.

Eric Prydz to Not Perform at Miami Music Week Due to a 'Medical Condition'

Scheduled to play three sets over the week with one at the Wynwood Factory, another on the ASOT stage, and a B2B set with Adam Beyer at Ultra. Eric Prydz will not be appearing at Miami Music Week.

Prydz sent out a Tweet earlier this week claiming that it was due to a “Medical Condition”. We hope that this is not an ongoing issue for Prydz, as EDC is on the horizon and more Holo shows are set to take place in May. The B2B set with Adam Beyer will most likely go on as a solo set, and ASOT are yet to announce and alternative act to take his place.

We’re unsure at this time of the exact issue with Eric Prydz, however we hope he recovers well and is out on the road soon.

March Madness: The Best New Tracks to Kick of The Month

It’s officially Friday, March 1st, and where January seemed to drag on, February flew by, and now we’re here to celebrate the start of a new month with some bangin’ new jams to get things started off right. Whether they’re highly-anticipated from some massive names, or up-and-comers worthy of recognition, here’s my picks for some of the best new tracks released today that you need to hear. Here’s to a great rest of the month!

Sikdope - “Rave”

Polish DJ/producer Sikdope is coming in extra hot this month with Musical Freedom-backed new track “Rave.” The song lives up to its name; with fast-paced rhythm and classic synths, this track combines elements of techno and even hardstyle to become what is bound to be a “rave” staple, as it should be.

Above & Beyond & Armin van Buuren - “Show Me Love”

When these legendary kings of their genre come together for a track, you know it’s gonna be good. Beautiful piano interludes accent this brilliant new trance number, and a welcome distorted bass shines through in the drop. Keep an eye out for Armin to drop this later this month at Beyond Wonderland.

Shivaji - “Block to Block”

Australian rising star Shivaji is back with another new banger, “Block to Block.” The syncopated percussion and bouncing bass makes this track stand out from the crowd. This young Aussie has caught the ears of the likes of Bassnectar and NGHTMRE, and there’s no doubt this one will take off as well. Keep an eye on what this newcomer has to offer next.

Au5 feat. Danyka Nadeau - “Eden”

The dynamic duo of melodic bass mainstay Au5 and vocalist Danyka Nadeau are back once again for another beautiful track. This one kicks things up a notch with an unexpectedly fun and energetic drop, and Nadeau’s vocals are as wonderful as ever. When these two come together, they never disappoint, and this is no exception.

KSHMR & Yves V feat. Krewella - “No Regrets”

KSHMR & Yves V have teamed up with Krewella for this fun future bass number. Krewella’s first new track of 2019, the duo shows off their vocal and songwriting chops on this radio-ready jam. This is the perfect song to ring in the coming of Spring. Keep this in your playlists and drop it on your Spring break road trip.

ReauBeau & Eauki - “Cut You Loose”

ReauBeau is arguably one of hottest new producers in the game right now. UKF, Run The Trap, Trap City, Spinnin’ Records, and more have all caught on, and you should too. Hot off the release of his latest “CTRL” EP, This new single with young newbie Eauki is a major vibe. It combines future bass and trap coupled with a catchy vocal hook that will have this stuck in your head for days. Catch ReauBeau playing Run The Trap’s SXSW showcase on March 13, and don’t sleep on this guy.

WICKD - “Givin’ Up”

WICKD have been catching fire recently with tracks backed by labels such as Gemstone/Revealed Recordings and Artist Intelligence Agency, and their newest track “Givin’ Up” is bound to heat up the charts. The progressive house banger is as danceable as it gets, and that’s what makes these guys’ music so much fun to listen to. I’m dying to hear this live and dance my little heart out.

Oski - “In Check”

I couldn’t finish this list without a little down n’ dirty bass for ya. Here’s Oski with his new one, “In Check.” Already a force to be reckoned with in the bass scene, Oski has scene a meteoric rise in popularity, due in part to his brilliant sound design and a knack for out-of-the-box compositions. On “In Check”, he solidifies this reputation with a drop that is the very definition of grimey. Turn up the volume on this one.

Dotcom - "new music in 2019"
dotcom-1200x520.jpg

If you are unaware, Dotcom aka Chris Comstock is Marshmello. Since taking up this alias, he has only released two tracks and that was three years ago. Nobody could have expected the popularity Marshmello has garnered so it makes sense for Chris to leave Dotcom behind. However, he has been relatively active on his twitter and recently tweeted “new music in 2019“.

With Marshmello releasing all kinds of genres, there must be something very specific in order to go back to Dotcom. Could we see Dotcom shows? If so, it will further solidify the public’s knowledge that Dotcom is in fact Marshmello.

We look forward to seeing Dotcom’s upcoming music and how it will differ from what he releases as Marshmello!
