AUREHL Share Haunting New Single ‘Yellow Shoe Ghost’ Ahead of Upcoming Album

Barcelona-based duo AUREHL are back with Yellow Shoe Ghost, an ethereal alt-pop single that introduces their upcoming album, The First Ghost on Eris, with equal parts whimsy and darkness. With that said, the track is a sonic journey through ghostly encounters, supernatural intrigue, and lush electronic textures.

Inspired by the eerie ambiance of Stephen King’s Overlook Hotel, Yellow Shoe Ghost spins a surreal tale of a guest meeting a mischievous ghost in a labyrinthine hotel. The track is a genre-bending ride – dreamy synths intertwine with breathy vocals, creaky elevator doors echo in the background, and flickering beats mimic a haunted house coming alive. Every detail feels intentional, creating a track that’s cinematic without losing its pop accessibility.

“Just like the enigmatic Overlook Hotel in Stephen King’s work, ‘Yellow Shoe Ghost’ captures the essence of the unknown and the unsettling that lurks in the shadows of an otherwise ordinary place, turning the everyday into a surreal experience,” explains AUREHL.

Comprised of Itziar Lember and Jiroz, AUREHL blend synthwave, dream pop, and trip-hop into something uniquely theirs. While their 2023 Smogland EP leaned into atmospheric storytelling, “Yellow Shoe Ghost” ups the ante with radiant melodies, sci-fi nostalgia, and lyrics that linger long after the track ends.

The First Ghost on Eris promises more of this sonic exploration, but for now, “Yellow Shoe Ghost” is a playful yet haunting invitation into AUREHL’s world.
