Celebrate NERVO’s Birthday With Our Top 10 NERVO Tracks Of All Time

Today marks the birthday of not one, but two, of the electronic music scene’s most iconic individuals, as twinspirational duo NERVO reach a milestone celebration. Cementing their legacy as the dance industry’s most instantly recognisable pair, Liv & Mim have blessed us with more than a decade of legendary productions, remixes, and even vocals, in addition to songwriting for – and collaborating with – a flurry of the World’s biggest artists, including Kylie Minogue, David Guetta, Kelly Rowland, and The Pussycat Dolls. The GRAMMY-winning sisters are also important figureheads in global change on a societal level, raising awareness for causes which they passionately campaign for (latest single ‘Is Someone Looking For Me?’, featuring Liv‘s daughter Ace Paloma, is testament to their status as warriors of truth, and justice). So what better way to mark NERVO‘s birthday than with our countdown of the irrepressible pair’s 10 Greatest Tracks of All Time…

10. HURT

One of the most criminally under-rated weapons in the NERVO arsenal, ‘Hurt’ arrived during peak COVID-lockdown, and consequently wasn’t given the platform it deserved to truly dominate the festival mainstays around the world at the time. However, this beautifully crafted production, led by the wistful tones of Frida Sundemo (who many will know from Avicii’s remix of MORTEN‘s ‘Beautiful Heartbeat’), arrived at a moment when many were in need of inspiration, and it dutifully delivered.

Bringing that oh-so-personable energy we’ve come to know and love from the Aussie live-wires, ‘Giving It All’ encapsulates everything we adore about NERVO. A trademark piano-led melody, packed with hot four-to-the-floor rhythms, and an irresistible vocal which gets caught in your subconscious for days. This frenetic ear-worm embodies the slick signature style of the modern NERVO sound, and is certainly one of the key components in the playlist of any member of the duo’s fanatical ‘NERVO Nation’ fanbase.

Laced by the unmistakable vocal of Carla Monroe (MK2AM, D.O.D – ‘Still Sleepless’ etc), ‘Gotta Be You’ first dropped in early 2021 and has proved a staple and timeless part of just about every party/fitness/motivation playlist since! A firm favourite in the club scene, too, and in NERVO‘s live sets, it isn’t tough to see why this one is such a whopper! With a groove-induced hook at the core of the production, and that typically upbeat NERVO tempo heating things up throughout, this one is already a bonafide classic.

When ZHU released Faded’ all the way back in 2014, dance music fans were instantly catapulted into a hazy dream of delight thanks to the track’s seductive and downtempo mood. Fast-forward a half-decade, and in stepped NERVO – displaying their dynamic diversity – alongside Skazi, to transform the monstrous hit into a mainstage-ready pst-trance ripper. Showcasing their ability to craft elite-tier bombs across any sub-genre of dance music, there’s no track which goes as HARD in those NERVO live-sets as this one does!

On first look alone, NERVO & Toolroom Records was a collaboration which caught many off guard, with Mark Knight’s iconic U.K-based label establishing a reputation as a taste making purveyor of tech-house. Liv & Mim were at their ferocious best here, tapping into their undeniable feminine energy and oozing charisma to cook up a sexy disco-tinged hip-swayer, which went down – (to the basement) – a real treat on the festival circuit throughout the Summer of 2021 to masses of eternally grateful post-pandemic ravers.

If ever there’s a track which will have you screaming out in empowerment, it’s ‘Revolution’. A sizzling triple-headed collab alongside Ummet Ozcan and R3HAB, the raw energy felt in this timeless anthem proved a landmark moment for the ‘EDM‘ boom in the early years of the ‘teenies’. Representing the very peak of the big-room bubble, whacking this one on full volume instantly transports the listener back to those sunset-evenings at the Tomorrowland mainstage, fingers outstretched to the sky in pure euphoria.

Another stonewall classic from ‘the golden era’, the success of this rasping electro-anthem was one of the key milestones in the meteoric rise of NERVO during their early career as an artist in their own right. Still sounding as fresh as ever to this day, ‘Hold On’ combines an atmospheric build with a heart-pounding drop and unrivalled energy throughout. One of the standout singles from their 2015 album, ‘Collateral‘, remind yourself of why this one is so universally loved, below:

One of THE great EDM collaborations, Mim & Liv paired up with Hook N Sling on this humongous festival-ready throbber in 2012. Signed to Spinnin’ Records, a birthplace for all iconic releases during that particular period, this one really catapulted the girls into primetime consciousness on account of those huge chord patterns, and treadmill-crush-inspiring breakdown. An aural embodiment of the mainstage NERVO style, ‘Reason’ is not just one of their greatest, but one of the very best ever, period.

Injecting a whole teaspoon of emotion into this special broth from the NERVO kitchen, thousands of broken hearts have found solace in the lyrical wisdom of ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’, an open ode to the traumas of relationships-past, and the hopeful nature of relationships-future. Managing the rare feat of proving something of a self-help guide, and also, a huge club-ready weapon, this massive dance anthem is NERVO at the very peak of their powers.

What else could it possibly be? Look out across any crowd when this one is played and you’ll see an army of rabid ravers with two hands in the air, forming an upside-down V shape, to symbolise a house with a roof. The cult-like status taken on by this track since a near perfection conception in Autumn 2012 is testament to the production’s ability to delight and unite, in equal measure. An immeasurbly joyous collaboration with Nicky Romero, a full decade has now passed since this one was birthed, but what finer way to culminate our countdown than with this iconic set closer…
