Gorillaz Enlist Peter Hook And Georgia For New Cut “Aries”

Since their albums Humanz and The Now Now in 2017 and 2018 respectively, Gorillaz have stayed fairly quiet in terms of teasing or releasing new material. This year however, it looks like the virtual band masterminded by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, is back in full force. Rolling out a project titled Song Machine track by track, they have already released songs that include impressive collaborations with slowthai, Slaves and Fatoumata Diawara, as well as accompanying music videos.

Their third Episode to the collection includes yet another unexpected and massive collaboration, as the band work with Peter Hook and Georgia for “Aries”. Peter Hook is widely known as the bassist and co-founder of legendary English bands Joy Division and New Order, while London-born and raised Georgia is one of the most talented producers and songwriters the UK has to offer. “Aries” is a perfect combination of all their talents; a quirky alternative rock tune filled with washed-out electric guitars and Gorillaz’s familiar synth work.
