Growing up in Omaha, Nebraska, Alyssa Johnson, known for her artist persona Mary Droppinz, was born to live a life full of music. Taking inspiration from her father’s expertise as a drummer, Mary began learning the ins and outs of the piano. Later on, she took this musical knowledge with her and settled down in the booming music hub of Los Angeles. Immersing herself in LA’s realm of electronic music, Mary turned herself into a prominent selector and mixer in the area.

As her DJing skills advanced, Mary started playing across the country at various EDM hotspots, such as Miami, Las Vegas, Seattle, and San Diego. Fusing together elements of 90s rave, hip-hop, and nature, Mary forged tracks that received praise for their hypnotic sound. These electronic anthems have allowed Mary to rapidly expand her following. Now, Mary is continuing to build the momentum of her project via her brand new single, “New York City”.

Released on the revered imprint of Deadbeats, “New York City” opens with a percussion-packed beat reminiscent of vintage 2000s hip hop. Then, catching listeners off guard, Mary throws grimy layers of bass and electrifying effects into the mix. Kicking off 2023 in style, “New York City” wholeheartedly embraces Mary’s mission of providing her audience with an out-of-body experience through music.
