Artist Jms Brynt has been making a name for himself on Soundcloud and Bandcamp with innovative tracks such as “yü gęę kæ,” “ĢŘỌƊ,” and “FỊŲ.” Within just one month of uploading his music to the competitive landscape of SoundCloud, he had already garnered over 100,000 views. Just five months after uploading his best-reviewed song to date, “yü gęę kæ,” it has been played over 49.6K times, with listeners complimenting the creativity and high-quality production of the instrumental, along with the sound of his voice and effortless flow.
Jms Brynt’s use of guitar-based instrumentation has allowed him to explore new dimensions of creativity within genres such as melodic hip-hop. The versatility of guitar sounds has allowed him to experiment with different musical moods, changing the energy of a song based on its production and lyrical content. The strength of his songs’ sound engineering allows the guitar to blend seamlessly with other instruments, creating the ideal mix for every emotion and mood expressed through his creative lyrics.
Through his previous experiences learning sound engineering through internships and hands-on experience, Jms has mastered the art of engineering for his own music. In the studio, he has collaborated with recording engineer Ayanna “Yanni Apple Seedz” Depas, who was nominated for a Grammy for her work on H.E.R.’s album “Back of My Mind.” Yanni Apple Seedz is also known for being the founder of the Clash of the Beatmakers competition, in which local producers compete in a contest to create the best hip-hop instrumental. Jms Brynt took second place in Clash of the Beatmakers in 2021, beating out 15 other contestants over the span of 4 rounds.
As an independent artist, Jms has found a home for his music on platforms such as SoundCloud and Bandcamp, which are the ideal platforms for cultivating artist-based communities focused on original art. According to Jms, these platforms have allowed him to hand-pick his audience and strategically promote his genre-bending, experimental approach to creation to the right people. Furthermore, SoundCloud and Bandcamp have allowed him to publish his music without any entities taking or sharing control of his art.

Despite going through many of the same struggles as other indie artists, his focus on making good music has never wavered. He finds inspiration for his music in specific regions and the sound that arises out of a melting pot of musical influences.
