Solomun Breaks Decade-Long Ibiza Rule For Exclusive Free New York Show

Diynamic label boss Solomun is set to make a massive return to New York on June 19 to headline the opening night of Pacha New York. In an incredible gesture to his fanbase, the electronic titan will play the gig completely free of charge, transforming the highly anticipated launch into an exclusive, complimentary event for his most dedicated followers.

Initially, the invitation to open the new Pacha New York venue was met with a polite refusal due to the date falling directly in the middle of his European summer commitments, mainly his weekly Pacha Ibiza show. However, a recent experience in the Big Apple completely shifted his perspective. During his outdoor show at the Fulton Fish Market in the Bronx last month, thousands of fans braved torrential rain for hours without leaving the dancefloor, with many backing it up for an additional five-hour stint at the Knockdown Center afterparty.

Solomun has held a rule in place for over ten years that he wouldn’t leave Europe during his Ibizian residency. “I held that rule for over ten years,” Solomun explained. “I never questioned it. And then I watched thousands of people stand in the rain for hours without moving. After that, staying home was not an option anymore.”

Instead of a traditional ticket sale, entry to the opening night dancefloor at Pacha New York will be allocated via a registration lottery. This system ensures equal opportunity, specifically targeting the fans who attended the damp Fulton Fish Market event and the subsequent Knockdown Center afterparty.

“This isn’t about selling tickets,” Solomun stated. “It’s about thanking the people who were already there.” The event marks a significant cross-Atlantic extension of his deep-rooted history with the nightlife brand. Since launching his iconic Solomun +1 residency in Ibiza back in 2013, he has remained a cornerstone of the island’s clubbing landscape.
