Swedish House Mafia & Lykke Li Release Beautiful Anthem ‘Happiness Is So Sad’

Swedish House Mafia team up with fellow Swede Lykke Li for ‘Happiness Is So Sad’. First played at the opening of the 2026 Ushuaïa Ibiza residency, the track has been on the minds of fans since.
Landing on DANSA, a new imprint from the Swedish House Mafia following their SUPERHUMAN label, DANSA is ‘dance’ in Swedish and seems to be working alongside SUPERHUMAN. Not much is known about the label, but time will tell.
The track is simply beautiful, with Lykke Li’s vocals and Swedish House Mafia’s production coming together to create something that will be remembered for years to come. The subtle but impactful lead builds to a vibrant, uplifting and euphoric drop that features SHM’s melodic work, that does not surprise.
Diving into the credits of this angelic anthem are pretty crazy. Alongside Swedish House Mafia, the track was co-produced by PARISI and Fred again.., with additional songwriting muscle coming from pop architects Max Martin and Oscar Holter.
While Lykke Li has noted that the project marks her first venture into pure dance music, the single handles a deeply melancholic core. Lyrically, the track tackles the bittersweet duality of human emotion, examining how fleeting joy can be and how quickly a cherished moment transitions into a memory.
Following its world premiere with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the single sets the tone for a massive remainder of the year. Both acts are facing packed late-summer schedules, culminating in Swedish House Mafia’s biggest headline concerts to date at Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium on 28 and 29 August.
