Tayo Sound Continues Golden Streak With New Single “Someone New”

If you’ve not yet stumbled on the golden voice of Tayo Sound, today is your lucky day. This 18-year-old is without doubt one of the music industry’s brightest new talents and he’s rising fast. The Nigerian-Scottish songwriter based a short way outside London has kicked off in 2020 with a monumental start. So far Tayo has demonstrated his ability to make gold with anything he touches, and now with his new offering “Someone New” he slides effortlessly into a more mature sound.

Tayo’s third release exudes soulful textures mixed with his own defining blend of pop, pairing soulful vocals with soothing instrumentation. It’s about the process of moving on from a relationship and address the very real issue many people experience, after a break-up, they aren’t quite ready to move on. “Someone New” was produced by Rob Milton (Easy Life, Holly Humberstone) and follows Tayo’s earlier debut “Cold Feet” which has almost 1 million streams on Spotify and the equally catchy “Heartbreaker“.

With only three releases under his belt he has received support from BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Jack Saunders and new artist support from Spotify and Apple Music; including features on the ‘Our Generation’, ‘Alt Pop’, ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘Good Energy’ playlists and hitting #5 on the Viral Chart. It’s not just the industry that’s got their eyes on him too, looking at the comments on Tayo’s releases you’ll see an instant bonding with his unique flavour of infectious songwriting. Each of his releases has introduced a new dimension to his artistry and landed with perfect scores.

Speaking on the new addition Tayo said; “Someone New was produced by Rob who I’ve wanted to work with for a while now, I’m a big Easy Life fan so working with him was a no brainer for me. The track is about coming out of a relationship and how you might not actually be ready to find “someone new”, something I think most of us would have experienced at a point in our lives.”

Whilst working on his current set of tracks he’s had the opportunity to collaborate with the likes of Al Shux (Kendrick Lamar, SZA and Lana Del Rey)George Reid (of Aluna George)Rob Milton (Easy Life)Blake Slatkin (Juice WRLD, Omar Apollo) and The 23rd (Khalid, Grace Carter) as well as performing for BBC Introducing and alongside Lianne La Havas as part of an Annie Mac Presents night at London’s Moth Club.

The release follows a sold-out “Socially Distanced” live show at London’s Jazz Cafe last week and is building the anticipation for his debut EP which is said to be due before the year is out. It’s only a matter of time before Tayo is a global household name so give this one a play and follow him on Instagram to find out what is next.
