The Weeknd Releases Swedish House Mafia Produced ‘Closing Night’ Via Pharrell Williams Edition Of ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’

Following the release of Hurry Up Tomorrow—his final album under The Weeknd moniker—Abel Tesfaye has unveiled the Pharrell Williams Digital Edition. This special edition includes a brand-new track, ‘Closing Night’, produced by Swedish House Mafia, with new artwork designed by Pharrell himself.

True to both The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia’s signature styles, ‘Closing Night’ delivers an eerie, melodic atmosphere, led by haunting synths and Tesfaye’s unmistakable vocals. The production gradually builds tension, culminating in a dramatic house drop that unmistakably bears SHM’s imprint. Dark yet electrifying, the track is a standout addition to an already stellar album.

The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia’s creative partnership dates back years, with the trio producing two tracks on Dawn FM and collaborating on the massive hit ‘Moth to a Flame’. They also teamed up on ‘Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)’, from the Avatar 2 soundtrack. They were once managed by the same team, which may have played a role in this latest collaboration. Regardless of its origins, ‘Closing Night’ is an exceptional offering—one that leaves fans hoping this isn’t their last time working together.

You can buy the album here, featuring the new song and Pharrell-designed album art. Hopefully, this eventually comes to streaming platforms.
