Where It Started: ILLENIUM

Your passion and love for music can start at any age. That’s something that hangs in curiosity for many fans. What did this person listen to when they were younger? Who influenced them?

The ‘Where It Started’ series is a platform for artists of all kinds to speak on the anthems that raised them to be who they are now.

Meet ILLENIUM: ILLENIUM is one of the most successful crossover electronic artists today. Hailed by Billboard as one of the Top Dance/Electronic Artists of the 2010s and recognized as part of Forbes‘ 2020 30 Under 30 class, the Denver-based producer/DJ born Nick Miller has topped the U.S. charts, garnered more than 4 billion collective streams, and headlined world-class festivals—all within a few short years.

Now as a newly independent artist, joining 12Tone Music Group, ILLENIUM enters his next creative phase with upcoming music that speaks directly to his fans and presents the same much-needed escape he’s delivered over the years. Putting an end to his huge year with a new single “Hearts On Fire” with Dabin, we’re incredibly honored to have had the time to find out where it started with ILLENIUM.

Where It Started: ILLENIUM

Putting this list together was really fun for me.  I love looking back on what songs really shaped my music taste.  Songs can impact you so much, especially when you’re growing up and going through all these changes.  I’d say all of these songs had a profound impact on what I loved about music.  They just resonated with me so much.

Growing up my music taste really had no bounds.  I always felt like I was more drawn to the more emotional songs though.  It didn’t matter what genre it was, as long as the song felt like it had a lot of meaning and emotion behind it.  I guess that’s what I’ve always tried to do with my music. – ILLENIUM
